This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In this 5th year of teaching, I feel “inspiring” is a great way to describe my students. What makes my class special is that they inspire me daily to give my best and grow as a teacher. How my kindergartners encourage and celebrate their peers and the difference they make throughout our school, makes it that much better to be their teacher.
I love my students excitement for reading and learning.
While the idea of having over 30 kindergarteners may seem a little challenging at times, their curiosity in learning, questioning and exploring never fails to bring delight to our school day.
My Project
This project was written to enhance my students' interest and reading abilities. By having the leveled texts, I am able to have an efficient small group/guided reading lesson with my students within various levels. Furthermore, it also gives them the opportunity to have independent reading with quality books of interest.
I have been fortunate to have students that love to read and listen to stories.
Unfortunately, our current leveled texts are worn, limited and lack support for our reading goals. I believe the leveled texts will help build upon necessary literacy skills, foster a love for reading and promote growth throughout the year.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
