My Students

This is a small self contained K-2 classroom of 12 students each of which have IEPs to help them find academic success through various accommodations and modifications. My students live in the city in a low socioeconomic area. I love each and every one of my students. They are happy and affectionate seeking attention and support both a academically and emotionally. They love listening to me read stories to them. They love when I introduce them to different books. They love going to our class library to pick out new books.

My Project

The books I’ve chosen for my project are either funny, have strong characters, use vivid language, include beautiful illustrations or teach a lesson. My students love coming to our classroom library to read, do work, and select new books. They truly love listening to me read stories to them. I chose these titles because I know my students will love them. The characters are loveable, the stories are valuable and the themes are so important for my students’ growth as individuals and as readers. With these books my students can read independently, with a buddy or with me.

My students have IEPs where I modify and accommodate theirs needs as learners.

I’m hoping these books will motivate them to read more so they can increase their fluency and accuracy and then become stronger passionate readers!
