Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most educators feel their classroom of students are the best and greatest. Although I can't argue with their opinions, I happen to think that I have the BEST AND GREATEST students on this planet.

There isn't a day that I don't look forward to seeing their faces and seeing them develop in knowledge and wisdom before my eyes.

I may be their teacher but they teach me so many lessons each day as well. Last school year I had the honor of being my students' third-grade literacy teacher. For the 2016-2017 school year, I was granted the gift of being their teacher again.

My students attend a Title l school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters. Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own life.

My Project

Throughout the school day, my students complete several interactive notebook activities and small group projects. Having my students create interactive notebooks and taking part in project-based learning activities has brought tremendous amounts of creativity, engagement and independent thinking to my classroom. With that said, we are, however, running low on our ink supply.

Having printing ink for our printer will help my students to continue making interactive notebooks in reading, writing, and social studies.

Your help by donating will allow them to continue to proceed to express their ideas, understanding and love for learning.

Furthermore, the usage of the aromatherapy diffuser will help my students, especially my students with special needs to focus and calm themselves both mentally and physically. Studies have shown that the use of oils help children with concentration, focus, calming, and lowers their level of stress.

My goal is to create a learning environment for my students that is both inviting and calm. I want my students to feel and believe that our classroom is a safe haven from their everyday troubles outside the classroom. Your donations will help my students soar right through the limitations and labels that have been placed upon them. We really hope you decide to donate. As their method of learning deepens and changes, so will their love of learning, which is priceless. Every dollar counts!
