My students have the odds stacked against them. Over 90% live in poverty and many are learning English as their second language.
Our school is an anomaly when compared to the surrounding schools in the area.
We are a very small rural community on the outskirts of a growing metropolitan area. Despite being a short drive from Fortune 500 companies there is an inaccurate stigma that permeates the student body.
Recently, thanks to a growing population and new businesses in town, the district has overcome financial issues and the threat of consolidation. Our career and technical education classes are ready to empower the students to reach their full potential.
My Project
My students need these earbuds for us to be able to watch videos during class. They will allow students to watch what they need to without disrupting others. Being able to assign video-based, flipped lessons, helps each student learn at their own level and ensure they understand each topic.
Teaching students who live in high poverty is tough.
A cheap pair of earbuds seems simple to most, but when you don't have transportation to the store, or a parent at home to take you, it's not a priority. Having some extra awesome earbuds in stock that I can give to my kids will help them stay focused on their learning.
