Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The uncertainty of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation has caused many schools and educational institutions to close temporarily. During this time of remote learning, I would like to become more creative with my work, and given the appropriate tools, I will be able to provide a remote learning experience with my students who are mostly from low-income families that are engaging to keep them with thinking, exploring, and inquiring during this time.

Many of my students with special needs will continue to participate with me via distance learning in the upcoming extended school year.

We will continue working on their targeted IEP goals using hard and soft materials/resources. In addition, I also provide activities to my students via Seesaw and/or send them worksheets in PDF to reinforce continued learning and generalized the skills they have learned at home. During this difficult time, life was never easy but was full of challenges. But despite all these challenges, I am beyond grateful to witness my students' engagement and participation as well as witness their families' support.

My Project

Having tools such as a wireless mouse, Air-Pods, iPad and stylus pen would allow me to become more mobile and versatile in providing speech and language therapy during distance learning. High-quality videos with rich colored graphics will surely keep my students more focused and engaged during remote learning. And, since an iPad Pro has more storage as well as picture quality, it would be suitable as a lecture device as I can also use it as a document camera. With the stylus pen feature, I can also annotate the screen as I deliver and review instructions to make our discussions more interactive. Taking screenshots of my annotations can also be used to help other students. It will also allow me to share and upload my materials easily so students can access the material. I'm confident that the iPad Pro would help me become more versatile, mobile, and helpful to my students. Once we return to school (hopefully soon), my students will greatly benefit from having an iPad Pro in our therapy room because I can write and lecture with notes. It will allow me to move around the classroom as I can write and record the work while also using it as a doc cam. It would be beneficial because it would increase my proximity to my students as well I could engage more students by having them write on it like the whiteboard.
