Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are loving third graders which I have created a huge bond with since I have been their teacher since the second grade. They come from a low income high poverty area and have limited resources due to their economic status. Of my forty-five students about twenty percent are in either temporary housing or are living doubled up with family members. Many of my parents first language is not English and therefore they have a more difficult time helping their children with their work.

Since distance learning began a majority of my students have been highly impacted by this again because of lack of access to resources.

Luckily many of my students have received technology however even with the resources available they struggle with navigating the technology and the apps.

My Project

My students have been stuck inside with little to no interaction with their friends or family. Adults are struggling with this, how do you think my little ones are doing?

They strive to learn but yet also want to have fun.

They have a monotonous schedule that does not include much fun. By receiving these supplies it will allow them the ability to have fun and create exciting things while passing the time. My students enjoy hands on activities but due to limited finances items like beads, string, paint, pipe cleaners etc. are a luxury therefore are not found in their homes. These supplies will allow me to meet virtually with the students so they can display their creations to their fellow classmates.
