This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The components of reading comprehension are crucial for all third grade students, especially English Language Learners and students with Disabilities. Third grade is the first grade where students switch from learning to read to reading to learn.

Students will be able to practice grade level standards and strategies with a read aloud text in front of them.

This will allow students to follow along while I model fluent reading, teach them how to use context clues to unveil complex vocabulary words, and teach them to become great detectives and solve the mystery before the end of the story.

Our school does not have an in-house library for students nor do we have extensive classroom libraries from which students can choose grade level texts. This class set of books would be a great addition to our classroom library.
