My Students

What makes the students at our school special? We could list 100 reasons and more. They stay after school with teachers until 6 PM to help teachers and tutor other students. They started a city-wide campaign project to raise violence awareness. In the midst of turmoil they may be facing in their lives, they come to school with a smile on their face. We often find ourselves saying to other people, "our school has the best kids," and the more years we teach, the more in our hearts we know this is true. We do not call them students, but ambassadors, because we know they are already changing the world and will continue to do so.

Our kids are the BEST and we love them with all our hearts.

They are resilient, loving, intelligent and full of potential that is waiting to be unleashed to the world.

Our school is a Title I public NYC school located in the Bronx. 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our students are immensely talented and have so much to offer. We want to expose them to as much as possible so that they can reach their highest potential.

My Project

Each year we try to take our students on trips outside of our community. This year, our budget has been cut and we do not have the funding to take our ambassadors on a trip. We want to take them on this exposure trip to Washington DC so our curriculum can come to life. This trip will close the gap between our in school learning and the outside world. We will take our ambassadors to Georgetown University to tour the campus. Your help with funding will allow us to be able to purchase necessary materials for this trip such as food and beverages, and notebooks for the students to record their journeys while on this trip.

Last year when we took our students on the trip, one said, "I never saw myself as someone who could go to college, but now sitting in this classroom I can see myself coming here." Our ambassadors will leave us for high school in a year, so we want to expose them to these opportunities so that they have hopes and goals for their future.

In today's world, it is important now more than ever to be exposed to new places and broaden our perspectives. We hope you will consider helping our ambassadors do this. You will not regret it!
