Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 2021, I applied and Amazon selected me and 9 other teachers in the US as Amazon Teacher Engineer of the Year and our school received a $30,000 grant. I used the funds to start a First Teach Challenge Robotics program.

This will be our fourth year competing, and this year I extended invitations to the interested students in the other two high schools in our campus to join our Robotics program.

I made the money last, but it ran out last year. The robotics challenge changes every year, the parts from AndyMark ordered here, are the new sections we need to set up the Robotics field to practice the challenge.

I hope to give at least eight Robotics teams, of six to seven students each, the opportunity to design, build, program and code their own robots to meet the challenge in order to compete with other New York State schools.
