My Students

I teach an exciting, motivated, and creative group of fifth-grade students. My student population is very diverse. I have some who are working below grade level, while others need to extend their thinking and apply the skills they have mastered in meaningful ways.

My students enjoy coming to school each day and learning from each other.

They use their critical-thinking skills to ask good questions and analyze information. They want to know about our community and how they can have a positive impact on it.

My Project

The Jimu Robot Explorer Kit is a DIY, Bluetooth app-enabled robotics building kit, and I am requesting 4 of them for my students to use in a rotation station. Jimu is exactly what my students need to get them thinking about the world of robotics and thinking outside the box. I am also requesting a Polaroid Snap camera with a case and photo paper. Students will use the camera to document their adventures with Jimu. Being able to instantly snap a photo and put it into their science journal will get students excited about the process of recording their scientific observations.

Jimu great addition to any STEM curriculum, teaching today's youth highly relevant skills in programming and robotics to better prepare them for the world of tomorrow.

Many of our environmental issues are being solved by engineers and this project will lay the groundwork for students to acquire the skills necessary to help protect our environment. This project will help students look at things through a new lens and to imagine what is possible. If they can make Jimu move and follow their commands, what can't they figure out how to solve the problem of trash ending up in our oceans. Jimu Robots will get students looking for solutions to problems in new and creative ways.
