My Students

My 6th-grade students need to experience the world around them through hands-on activities instead of just reading from a book.

As a teacher in a low-income school district, I want to provide my students with the tools to increase their love of learning and help give them a love of exploring the world around them.

I believe all students have the right to learn and succeed. In order to make sure students have the ability to learn, they just need a safe environment and the resources to learn.

My Project

Students learn best through hands-on learning. My 6th-grade students will be learning World Geography, World History, and American Government. Social Studies doesn't have to be pure memorization of names, dates, and places. I want my students to "experience" the world through our lessons.

I, unfortunately, can not have my students travel around the world through time, so, I want to bring various activities to them in the classroom.

My project includes various maps and posters for students to be able to have visual representations of places and topics we are exploring. My project also includes various books that have activities from the cultures we will be learning about.
