My Project

In our 2nd-grade classroom, my students are full of curiosity about the world around them! They love learning about different places, but to truly understand geography, they need hands-on tools that make maps and globes come to life. To meet Common Core Standards in social studies, we need desk maps, a large classroom map, interactive globes, and engaging map floor puzzles to help my students develop essential geography skills.

Desk Maps: Provide every student with an individual tool for learning cardinal directions, identifying states and countries, and following along with lessons.

Classroom Map & Globes: Give students a bigger picture of the world, helping them see the connections between landforms, bodies of water, and locations.

Map Floor Puzzles: Turn learning into a fun, hands-on experience, allowing students to piece together the world and strengthen their problem-solving skills.

Goals for This Project:

Help students meet Common Core geography standards by learning to read maps, identify locations, and understand spatial relationships.

Encourage collaborative learning with floor puzzles and interactive activities that make geography exciting and engaging.

Foster critical thinking and problem-solving as students analyze maps and piece together different regions of the world.

My students are curious, hardworking, and eager to explore! With these resources, they will gain a deeper understanding of geography and see themselves as explorers, travelers, and global citizens.
