Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help our students get a fascinating look at plant and animal life! I am requesting durable, easy-view specimens that will give the students a chance to get an up close look at sea life specimens, scorpion specimens, spider specimens, plant life specimens, insect specimens, and life cycle specimens. Each specimen is encased in rugged, lightweight acrylic with the name of each specimen silkscreened right on it for easy identification.
These specimens are the perfect way to encourage curiosity and exploration of our natural world and the plants and animals in it.
Students will get a close up look and be able to hold starfish, shrimp, crab, and fish from the sea life specimen kit. In the scorpion and spider kit, there is a scorpion, moss spider, house spider and funnel-web spider specimen. The life cycle specimen kit includes an adult moth, plus eggs, a silkworm, and a cocoon, allowing the students to get an up close view of the life cycle stages.
The insect kit includes a praying mantis, long-horned beetle, butterfly, and a rose chafer. Students will also get an up close view of plant life with the kit, including a maple leaf, fern, rose leaf, and a chrysanthemum. Having access to these specimens will help the children explore our natural world in a safe and fascinating way!
