My Students

We are a class with unique needs, wants, and personalities.

Our class is made up of six intelligent, happy, and enthusiastic fourteen year old boys, who have little to no verbal communication ability.

Our schools serve all students with autism, in a high need area, with a large range of abilities. All of the students care very much about their education and give 110% in everything they do. The goal of the students is to be able to get a job after school and I want to help them to achieve that goal!

My Project

Students will be participating in a D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) Enrichment Cluster. Enrichment clusters are student run activities. The students will have the opportunity to use the materials supplied to them to create useful items for every day life.

My students need new materials to be able to explore their own creative imagination.

The more materials the students have will give the students a more creative range. Students will be able to use the balloons to create stress balls. The foam boards will be used as a canvas. They will be able to use whatever materials they would like to decorate the canvases. Pom poms will be used to make a rug; the hot glue gun will be used to glue the pom poms together.

There are some math materials that are on the list of materials. Having physical items have helped the students learn addition and subtraction and will continue to help them in upcoming units.
