Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The diverse books I am requesting will provide my students with relatable, thought-provoking narratives that reflect their own experiences and challenges. These titles will enhance their understanding of the American Dream by showcasing various perspectives, fostering empathy, and promoting critical thinking. Literature circles will encourage collaborative learning, improve reading and discussion skills, and help students connect with the material on a personal level.

This project aims to broaden literary exposure, promote critical thinking, and foster empathy through diverse, engaging books.

By introducing students to a range of voices and experiences within American literature, I hope to spark analytical discussions about the American Dream. Additionally, this project seeks to enhance engagement with relatable stories and improve collaborative skills by strengthening their ability to work together, share insights, and respect differing viewpoints.

My students in Los Angeles are resilient, determined, and full of potential. Despite significant socio-economic challenges, they bring unique perspectives and a rich cultural background to the classroom. Their diverse experiences and strong sense of community make them exceptionally insightful and capable of deep, meaningful discussions about the American Dream. Their ability to connect with and draw lessons from literature will not only enhance their academic skills but also empower them to envision and strive for their own dreams.
