My Project

As students learn about ecosystems, they will be introduced to French Impressionist Claude Monet. We will discuss his artistic methods he used in his paintings, "Water Lilies". We will analyze the photo. Then students will discuss what abiotic and biotic factors would be found in that ecosystem based on his painting.

Students then will choose a type of artistic medium to present what is found in that ecosystem.

Students will be able to choose from various art forms such as canvas paint, yarn painting, clay, etc. Students choosing to use acrylic paint on a canvas will be able to make their artwork glow with the led lights, batteries, and copper tape.

Students will create an “Artist Statement,” about the piece they created. The statement will describe how they integrated their science vocabulary and concepts into the painting. Finally, students will participate in a “Gallery Walk” with the class. The students will take a tour of each painting. As they view the paintings they will discuss and identify the consumers, producers, and decomposers, as well as energy sources.
