My Students

Hello! I teach 1st grade in Clark County School District and I am asking for donations to enhance my science lessons. My students missed out on experiencing hands-on science lessons last year due to COVID, so I want to make sure they have the opportunity to partake in as many science activities as possible.

My Project

Our class will be exploring plants and animals this spring. I decided to order materials to start a variety of plants in the classroom to transplant into the outside school garden. I asked for a variety of seeds, a growing light, mist sprayers, gardening books, and soil. Since my school does not receive FOSS kits, these materials will give my students an opportunity to have hands- on experiences with plants.

This year we will also study the life cycle of animals.

Incorporating an ant farm, a live butterfly kit, and a variety of life cycle books will help my students understand that young plants and animals are like, but not exactly like, their parents.
