This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello,

I teach in the K-3rd grade Autism Core Classroom.

My students are all different learners and love exploring books. They are extremely lovable kids who get immersed in the characters of the stories we read. Right now, we want to read the Pigeon series especially the book "Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus." This series will help my students stay engaged with the material and will provide an opportunity to dive into continuing their learning-to-read journey. With the support of this community, I want to provide my students with the necessary tools to enjoy reading and feel connected to the characters and setting.

The Pigeon plush will help my students have a reading buddy with them each time we read a book from the series. This would be a great way to keep the students engaged in the story and help them provide details about the pigeon's experiences.

With a copy of the book for each of my students, they can engage in echo reading with our read-aloud, which will help them with their reading vocabulary, accuracy, and fluency.
