Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our Title I school come from many diverse backgrounds and speak many different languages such as Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu, and Arabic, just to name a few. We have at least 95% of our students receiving free lunch every day.

They are curious and eager learners who come to school every day despite the challenges they face.

They are our future and I would like to give them a great start to their long and successful career.

My Project

My students will be exploring life cycles of insects and animals during our unit of study on transformations. To extend their understanding of these living things, I would like to bring live butterfly larvae to them in the classroom for them to examine and explore. By being exposed to the life cycle of insects and the terminology regarding them at an early age, my preschool students may be lead into the field of science which might even include the field of Entomology.

I believe that young children learn best through play and exploration, and by fulfilling this project, my students will be rewarded with real-life experiences of the world around them.
