"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world," Nelson Mandela once said. This quote is the foundation of my teaching philosophy. The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The gas crisis that has resulted from Hurricane Sandy exhibits the need for renewable energy.
My students are enthusiastic learners and compassionate individuals.
They are mostly seniors (some are juniors) who are in my AP Environmental Science class. They attend a school of about 1,000 in a suburban area in NJ. They are hardworking and motivated to apply what they learn in the classroom to their daily lives.
My Project
The resource I am asking for is an Inquiry Science Kit that includes activities for energy resources. Through the inquiry activities in the kit, my students would be able to investigate nonrenewable and renewable energy resources. They would be exposed to the advantages of renewable energy and they would be prompted to explore how more widespread use of it could be encouraged. Studies show that student-centered learning is more meaningful and enduring. Please help my students to have hands-on experiences with energy resources!
A donation to this project will make a difference to not only my students... but hopefully to the future of our country!
The gas crisis that has resulted from Hurricane Sandy shows the necessity of lessening our dependence on nonrenewable sources. It is a fact that humans are using Earth's resources at an unsustainable rate. We need the students of today, who are our leaders of tomorrow, to learn about renewable resources and ways we can live more sustainably off of this Earth!
