My Students

Saving Earth's Rain Forests! My students will be learning about the importance and beauty of our world's rain forests while planting tropical plants and learning all about the habitats of the rain forest!

My students come from low income homes with little life experiences.

They strive to do well in school and have wonderful attendance! They love to come to school and are always prepared to learn. They especially love science and any experiment that is hands-on. We are an inviting school where students feel safe with their teachers and classmates. My classroom is a group of students who work well together and learn from each other.

My Project

I plan to start a "Why Should We Save The Rain Forest?" project with my students in class. I will be inviting them to plant seeds of tropical plants. We will be using the greenhouse to store our tropical plants. Students will also be observing many tropical plants and learning about their importance and why they should be treasured. I hope to inspire them to visit the classroom greenhouse daily and use labels to documents their observations. We will also be studying ways we can protect and save our Earth's rain forests! The library resources will be used during Science lessons and during my teaching about the plants and habitats of the rain forests. Students will also have access to classroom books. Students will be creating their plant projects based on their tropical plant and be documenting it's growth throughout the remainder of the school year. They will be using labels and creating displays for their Rain Forest project for the visiting community.

I feel my project is so important because kids should be aware of the beauty of the rain forest and the reasons we need to protect it.

There are so many different species of plants in the rain forest. By having their own tropical plant I think this project will allow my students to become more engaged in learning about habitats around the world, especially ways to save the rain forest.
