A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
In our 5th grade classroom of 29 super students right outside of Phoenix, a lot of learning happens.
They are an excited and intelligent group of students that come to school and work hard every day.
From recently mastering how to write, say, and break down numbers into the billions to publishing their first skillfully crafted personal narratives, they are a wonderfully creative and capable group of students. In the words of our principal, these "future college graduates" have their goals set high and are here to learn.
My Project
Many of our student have not traveled outside of their community so they are all very excited to travel 2 hours from Phoenix to northern Arizona to explore the great outdoors!
The students will not only learn more about the environment and natural habitats in their state but it is also a time for students to work on sportsmanship and team building skill while making fun memories as they finish up 5th grade.
This will be my 3rd year taking student on this field trip and the pond ecology and canoeing classes are always a favorite. Living in Phoenix many students are not around natural bodies of water so they really enjoy studies all the creature that live in the pond and having a chance to try and catch there own. Canoeing teaches student the importance of communication and teamwork. The realize quickly that they need to work together with their group to successfully navigate the canoe. They also have lot of fun gliding through the water and trying to splash their classmates. It also helps them explore a new way to get active and exercise! This could spark students' interest in other water sports such as joining a rowing team in their future.
