My Students

Do you remember what it was like to learn something new through exploration? My students are at the age of discovery. Exploring new things, learning new facts, and sharing their discoveries are the challenges they get to experience in my kindergarten classroom.

My students are the incoming learners in our school.

They are inquisitive and excited to be in kindergarten. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of their parents are in the military or work in the port close to their school. The students attend a school that focuses on marine science and teaches them about the community. Being in Kindergarten, my students are learning many new skills that will be necessary throughout their educational career.

My Project

The resources I have chosen for my classroom will help my students learn while getting to explore and interact with their peers. My classroom is set up with learning centers. My teaching philosophy is that children need to be excited about learning. My goal is to expose my students to learning through a variety of modalities. They need to be able to explore, discover and share what they are learning with their peers. The learning centers and teaching tools will allow my students to investigate and learn new ideas while having fun.

I love being a teacher!

I see the students come to school with many fears. Many leave their parents for the first time, don't know how to hold a pencil, or think that they cannot do anything by themselves. Introducing the students to a world of discovery and accomplishments is the reward I get to relish. Being the best teacher I can be is my project. I believe that every child can learn and that it should have fun! As Robert Fulghum said, "All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten."
