My Project

Drums will provide my students with a hands-on, immersive experience that connects them to African American culture and history. Through rhythm and movement, they will develop a deeper appreciation for music, improve coordination, enhance listening skills, and strengthen teamwork. Drumming also fosters self-expression, creativity, and emotional regulation, making it a powerful tool for both academic and social-emotional learning.

The goals of this project are to:

1. Cultural Awareness & Appreciation-

Introduce students to African drumming and its influence on African American traditions.

2. Engagement & Participation-

Encourage active learning through rhythm, movement, and collaboration.

3. Skill Development-

Improve motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and auditory processing.

4. Self-Expression & Confidence-

Provide a creative outlet for personal expression.

5. Teamwork & Community Building-

Teach students the value of collaboration and active listening.

My students are eager, curious, and full of energy. They thrive in hands-on learning environments and love expressing themselves creatively. Many come from diverse backgrounds, and this project will allow them to connect with cultural traditions in a meaningful way. Their enthusiasm for music and movement makes them the perfect group to learn, grow, and celebrate diversity through the power of drumming.
