Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our preschool program is grant funded and provides students with free preschool opportunities. We don't ask parents for donations or monetary support so we seek alternative options for providing for our classrooms. Budgets are tight and teacher's wallets are too!

We love to explore in Pre-K, and sometimes all the excitement can lead us to need to calm and relax.

We have some requests for items to both explore and relax, meeting the needs of my students in two different areas of the room. In our exploration station we would like a large ruler to measure ourselves and see how we grow throughout the year. We would also like sound sensory capsules to explore our sense of sound along with our unit learning on the 5 senses.

In our calm down space, we would like baskets and hooks to store calm down materials. We have a magnetic board in our space that magnetic baskets and hooks can stick to and hold items like fidgets, mindful breathing boards, stress balls and feelings charts and books.

Having these items will improve the overall learning that takes place in our classroom. We will have exploration station items to connect learning and tools to utilize when we are feeling big emotions and need a break from all the learning.
