My Project

A big focus in our math class this year is for students to explain their thinking about the math they learn in class. For this to happen, it is necessary for students to have access to math composition notebooks. This will allow for students to solve math problems and explain the thought processes behind how they solved the problem.

Explaining your thinking in a math setting deepens the understanding of math concepts.

It helps students see that there can be more than one process for reaching an answer in math and helps students learn to use vocabulary correctly in the classroom. Providing students with math notebooks will help me meet my goal of having all students explain their thinking in mathematics.

This project also provides students with Push Pop Fidget Toys that can be used as a part of our classroom positive behavior incentive system (PBIS). Fostering a positive classroom environment at a young age will help create a positive relationship with learning and school. I’ve also requested color and black ink cartridges for my classroom printer so that I can print out student work and other classroom materials in color.
