My Students

Every day is an adventure in my classroom! I am a 1st grade teacher in a small community and I have a class of 21 amazing students. We love to read and work in groups. In fact, we work best when collaborating with others.

My students are easily distracted and I want to minimize these distractions which will help maximize their learning.

The desks we have in the classroom are very old (as is our school) and they are loud when moved across the floor. Many of my students find it difficult to sit still and are always moving the desks around causing unwanted noise and distractions in learning. Also, they keep treasures inside those desks that take their attention away from what they are supposed to be doing.

My Project

This new table with allow students to have group discussion throughout the day. It would replace the table we have now, which is in bad shape and it wobbles. We have tried to fold paper and put it under the leg and it always seems to disappear. It is a distraction and the students are always complaining about how it wobbles.

With a new table, it would allow the students to enjoy their group discussions and hands-on activities a whole lot more.

They would spend more time learning and focusing on classwork instead of trying to keep the table from wobbling.
