Help Ms. Brunson

Students in today's world need to experience the Arts and customs from the different cultures around them. Our school has a variety of different cultures. Having the instruments from around the world for students to hear and play for themselves is an activity many students do not get to experience in their lives. I would like to purchase various instruments from around the world for my students - grades K through 5 - to play, to experiment with, and to use their creative minds to create different sounds with the instruments. The 650 students at our school are from many backgrounds and income levels. All students would be given the opportunity to play the instrument and hear the instrument. Music and instruments are one way students can appreciate the different cultures from around the world. I have the pictures of many instruments and our music books show the instruments but the students would benefit more from seeing the actual instrument. The arts areas at our school do not have the funds to purchase equipment or instruments for students to experience. Most of the supplies we have are from grants or donations. Music is an area where supply money is limited and often cut. Students need to know and appreciate different cultures in the world in which they live. Thank you for your consideration.
