My Students

Each day is a new adventure in learning and my students arrive each morning eager to experience new adventures in Science. Our motto for Science class is “Experience, then investigate.” Each day my students arrive prepared to experience a new scientific phenomenon and then investigate the scientific principles to gain a deeper understanding. These amazing students are from Baltimore, MD and often take multiple city buses each day to arrive at school in the northern Baltimore neighborhood of Hampden.

As an urban school, we are often facing budget concerns, which translates into a lack of technology for our students to use in learning.

Despite these budgetary challenges my students arrive each day ready to conqueror the world. Overcoming challenges is second nature to them and they are an inspiration to their teachers.

My Project

Access to technology is critical for students in the 21st century to be college and career ready by the time they graduate. In each of my classes I students that have been identified as gifted/advanced along with students who are below grade level in reading or math. Technology allows my students to access the course content in differentiated ways that are accessible to them as individuals. My students will use the two Chromebooks to create presentations to explain their understanding of the scientific phenomenon that we are studying. My students will also be able to access virtual field trips to help enhance their understanding of world around them through the use of the Chromebooks.

Technology opens the door for my students to experience the world around them from the comfort of our classroom.

Virtual field trips and experiments will enhance their understanding of science, while making sure that ALL my students have access to content presented that their appropriate level.
