Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students get so excited when they get to use the computers. It is their favorite time of day. However, when the class has more students than computers it is very hard to get them all on for the amount of time that they will actually benefit from.

I teach 36 fourth grade students, including Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students, English language learners and general education students.

I also teach after school care so I will be able to impact even more students' lives. The majority of the students come from very low income families and are being raised by single parents or even extended family. They do not have many luxurious at home and getting a chance to use technology is something some of them only get to do at school.

My Project

They will use the Chromebooks and head phones to use many of the educational resources that are available, either through the school system or many that I have purchased myself. There are so many things that they can do, they just need the resources to do them. I will have them use the flash drives to save data and transfer it from one computer to another, especially projects that are assigned throughout the year. The Chromecast will be used to mirror one of the Chromebooks and be able to show my entire class at one time, how to do things on the computer. With a class of 36, it would be impossible to show them one at a time how to log-in to use a certain resource. However, with the Chromcast and Chromebook, I will be able to display what I am doing on our Promethean board and step them all through the processes at the same time.

This project will make a difference in so many students' lives.

They will get to come to school and do something they don't get to do at home. They can learn how to use technology not just for this school year but for so many more years to come. They will need this type of knowledge to move on to middle school, high school, hopefully college and into their adult lives. Imagine, this project can make an impact for so many more years.
