This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a Dual Language (English & Chinese) program in which they receive instruction in both languages. One third of our class are English language learners who have limited access to English learning resources at home while another third are Chinese language learners who do not speak Chinese at home. Yet, every day, they show me how eager they are to acquire a second language when they are at school.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.

We try to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have them to grow and learn together each day!

My Project

iPad is a powerful tool in language learning. With the help of great language learning apps, students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills will be fully activated as well as their learning motivation! Yet most of our classrooms do not have enough devices for the children to access these apps that our school have already licensed, nor an IPad cart to keep our devices safe and organized.

Our dual language program plans to build a classroom set of iPads (20-30 iPads)to launch different language activities in our daily teaching.

We have designed many ways to engage our students in language learning by using iPads. They can record their own voices to create E-books. They can use online reading websites to read and listen to books. They can use digital flash cards to expand vocabulary. They can share their ideas on collaborative platforms.

You will be surprised by all the amazing learning they can accomplish through interactive technology! Your support will expand and excite their learning journeys!
