My Students

My students are learning in an urban, New York City public school. Our school strives to find the leader in all students. We try to instill personality characteristics to support the growth of their inner leader. Every child has different strengths and capabilities.

My Kindergarteners all care about one another and continually make progress as they grow into little scholars.

My 23 students are all unique. My students love to learn. Some of my students have special needs and benefit from different types of materials and modes of learning to help them succeed.

My Project

Seeing a young child feel happy and smile when reading a book is something magical. It is very difficult for beginning readers to find books they can read independently. I want to encourage my students to read on their own without feeling defeated or unsuccessful. These books have basic sentences, repetitive words and colorful pictures to keep their interest. They will help them gain sight word knowledge, fluency, and comprehension. I am lacking books they are comfortable with and feel successful in reading. When a child feels confident in something, they want to continue doing it. Please give my students a chance to continue their love of reading.
