Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing individuals that need hands-on opportunities to feel successful! I teach mostly English language learners at a Title I school and this year we are starting the school year virtually!

More of the same is not what they need; innovative teaching is needed to make them succeed in school.

My students come to school each day excited to learn, but unfortunately that excitement dwindles away when confronted with the harsh reality that they need a lot of remedial support. Together, we can make their academic success a reality!

My Project

After a year of school closures due to the pandemic, students are coming to school next week and will need an outlet for all their extra energy. My students love to get up and do physical activity but it will be difficult to get in as much movement with social distancing guidelines.

I have recently discovered these portable exercise bikes that can be kept underneath student desks and used during any lesson to help them move, get physically fit, and still keep academics in mind!

These portable bikes will help my students get their heart rates up a bit as they are reading books in class, performing math tasks, or learning social studies. I even envision bringing in some data recording and charting which group travels the most distance! I also am eager to try out the flexible seating options to engage even my most wiggly student! These inflatable discs will come in handy when students are building up the stamina to sitting in the student chairs that have been empty for over a year.

With your donation, my students will be able to keep physically fit without sacrificing precious learning minutes in the classroom. They will be able to help their bodies feel better and more energized.
