My Project

In East Los Angeles, students can utilize pulse oximeters for an exercise lab focusing on homeostasis. This lab aims to deepen their understanding of physiological responses to exercise and how the body maintains equilibrium. By measuring oxygen saturation levels before, during, and after exercise, students can observe changes in homeostasis, particularly in the respiratory and circulatory systems.

The requested items include pulse oximeters, which are essential for accurately monitoring oxygen saturation levels in the blood.

These devices will enable students to gather real-time data, enhancing the experiential aspect of the lab. Additionally, exercise equipment such as stationary bikes or treadmills will facilitate controlled physical activity, allowing students to investigate the impact of varying exercise intensities on homeostatic mechanisms.

Goals:

Hands-on Learning: The primary goal of this project is to provide students with hands-on experience in exploring physiological concepts. By engaging in practical exercises and data collection, students can deepen their understanding of homeostasis beyond theoretical knowledge.

Critical Thinking: Through data analysis and interpretation, students will develop critical thinking skills. They will analyze how different exercise intensities affect oxygen saturation levels and draw conclusions about the body's adaptive responses.
