My Students

This is my first year teaching a fourth grade class in a Spanish dual language program in Brooklyn. My students include a combination of English language speakers and Spanish language speakers. They are a very diverse community of learners that love sharing their ideas with each other, exploring and learning new things every day.

My students love to solve problems during math.

They enjoy reading, writing, and sharing their stories with their peers. My students inspire me to become a better teacher every day.

My Project

We need graphic novels in Spanish for our classroom library.

For emergent bilingual readers, graphic novels are a wonderful way to learn a new language.

The illustrations provide clues to learn new vocabulary and help students engage with the story.

My students are becoming sophisticated readers, and I need materials that continue to engage them every day. Since I am a new teacher in the dual language program I still need many materials for our class. I would like for my students to become more fluent readers in Spanish. Your help in funding this project will allow me to build a classroom library that addresses their needs.
