Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students share that excitement and joy of waiting for and then finally devouring the newest books in their favorite series.
My students crave the desire to learn and engage with each other.
Many of them need hands-on learning. I have begun this process with them by using interactive notebooks.
My students are inquisitive, voracious learners who desire new materials to help them grow.
Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As English Language learners, hands-on interactive notebooks are so important to my students and are truly valued.
I am the sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at a K-8 elementary school in a Title I school. Many of my students do not have access to materials and resources at home and rely on our classroom supplies to complete projects and interactive notebook activities.
My Project
The use of interactive notebooks is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in ELA. Going away from old school note taking and using the interactive students makes engagement mandatory for all. The interactive notebooks allow guided practice and a reference tool for my struggling readers. This is also a great tool for all students when preparing for assessments.
The problem is I have 170 students and all of the supplies I purchased in the beginning of the year is now empty.
I need help to keep allowing the use of this tool. The amount of time we are using for shared supplies is taking away from the learning opportunity. Having ample supplies will mean everyone in my classroom is on the same page and will not miss important instruction.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not.
