Exciting Decoding for All

Help me give my students the gift of exciting stories to read that allow them to practice and build their skills as beginning readers! Please help my older readers by providing them with books they can decode.

My Project

Learning to read is a challenging skill that requires explicit instruction and practice. For older readers who did not receive that instruction due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attendance concerns, a learning disability, or an inadequate phonics curriculum during the primary grades, there is the added stigma of being stuck reading books that are so far below their peers. My school is fortunate to have a broad range of decodable books that appeal to the k-2 reader. Unfortunately, the books that appeal to a kindergartener don't hold the same level of excitement or appeal for a 5th grader. The book sets in this cart, while expensive, are proven to excite even the most reluctant of older readers. The stories and covers appeal to many grade-level students as well which helps prevent the reading stigma that many older beginning readers face.

Please help me provide my grade 3-5 intervention students with the extra practice they need to become fluent readers for life!
