My Students

The majority of my students are English language learners and come from immigrant families. They are from an economically disadvantaged area in Los Angeles County. Due to their economic hardships, many of them have to work and fulfill other responsibilities at home in order to help their families.

Nonetheless, they are eager learners who work hard to be leaders in their community.

They aim to be the first in their families to go to college and graduate despite their hardships.

My Project

As schools let out for the summer, it's time for teachers to gear up for the next school year. We are currently in the midst of planning, but because my school district has not chosen a book or a curriculum, it has been difficult trying to implement NGSS in the way it was intended.

I need these books to help me plan more engaging activities for students so that we reach the standards.

The books are a guide for teachers and are highly regarded as good instructional materials by multiple organizations that support science teachers. I hope that by getting them, I can plan better lessons that will help students better understand chemistry.
