This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a fourth grade reading and writing teacher, it is important for me to provide the necessary materials and instruction for my students to be successful in the classroom. My fourth graders come from very different families and back grounds in one of the largest school districts in the state of Texas.

We are a Title I school in a district that is economically disadvantaged with a very diverse group of students who enjoy coming to school every day.

Please consider helping me help my students reach their full potential this year.

My Project

I am requesting specific reading and writing materials as well as some back-to-school school supplies to be used by my students to help foster a love for learning.

The texts I have selected will be expose students to real people who have helped make a difference in our world.

I want to encourage my students to be courageous and stand up for what is right, even if it goes against the majority. My hope is that these texts motivate my students to become leaders.

Developing a love for writing can be a challenge for some students in fourth grade, so with the fun paper and writing supplies, I hope to facilitate a desire to express oneself through writing.

The school supplies (sticky notes) will be used daily in the classroom to check for understanding or leave an encouraging note. The teacher chair is a necessity when working with my small groups during guided reading and intervention it will allow me to move about the classroom to be sure I get to each group and can work with them. The duct tape will be useful in keeping our cardboard book boxes together while allowing students to choose a design that is fun and fits their personality.

These materials will benefit my students in their growth and development of reading and writing skills. Students are expected to further their abilities in both of these core areas of Language Arts in fourth grade and I am certain that these resources will be just what is needed for a successful school-year!
