My Students

I have accumulated a modest classroom library for my scholars to find the "perfect' book that they will enjoy. I am hoping to expand my library with class sets of books that we can enjoy for whole group instruction. Acquiring 33 copies of the novel FEVER, 1793 will be the first class set.

My scholars are being educated in an urban district with minimal funding available.

They attend an inner city public school and the majority of my students come from families who believe in the power of education. However, poverty keeps many families from being able to contribute to the expansion of my classroom library. I purchase supplies for many of my students so they have the tools they need to succeed. My students spend long periods of time in their classroom library searching for the perfect book to read. Adding to my library will only further enhance their love of reading.

My Project

I am requesting: 33 soft back copies of the novel FEVER 1793 1 Teachers Guide for the novel, FEVER 1793 Using time and place in the distant past to unfold the plot, as well as to dramatize its basic themes and concerns. I will be able to teach a variety of themes and skills utilizing this text. The mastery of skills such as main idea, characterization and plot are necessary to become proficient readers and learners. I am also requesting the teacher's guide so that I can proficiently teach the content and skills of this incredible novel. My students will absolutely love this novel and inspire them to continue reading a variety of genre's when completion of our FEVER unit is complete.

I want my scholars to be exposed to all types of literature and my goal is to start with one class set of the chapter books that we read, dissect and analyze as a class.

I believe my scholars deserve every advantage and I will not give up until they have all the tools they need to succeed. It is my hope that my love of reading will be passed on to my scholars. My scholars will enjoy FEVER 1793 and will learn so much from the novel. Won't you please find it in your heart to help my scholars?
