My Project
My middle school students with special needs are the most cheerful and loving kids despite their home environments or back stories. Already struggling to stay par with their peers, Covid just made it nearly an impossible challenge for them. For many, school is their safe place, their fun place, a place outside of sitting in front of a T.V. My students have a uphill journey for so many reasons. For this, I want them to know I'm not the only one who thinks they're special and worth it. I want them to have these items, my wish list for them, so they can be encouraged to write with options, work where they need to chill, sensory pals when they have a stressful moment, pencil sharpeners, and table lighting so we can lower the glaring fluorescents. Even the laminator will be used to create countless fun reminders they can keep at their desk (ex. Remember your cool down ideas") or laminated art work to display for years to come. I am excited at the opportunity of them getting calculators to work on their math when some math just doesn't make sense. I just want these well-deserved students to feel great in their environment so they can focus on the true learning. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!!
