My students need Find Evidence Clips and Build a Paragraph Flip book to help them understand what they are reading. They need reading trackers to help them read as well as an electric pencil sharpener, construction paper and crayons.

My Students

Organization can be the key to education! By the end of this school year, I want my students to become better readers and writers. These materials will help them be more organized when they are writing and understand more of what they are reading!

My class consists of a mix of both second graders and third graders.

These students are currently participating in a Special Education Classroom Environment. They are living with various disabilities and have many environmental factors stacked against them also, such as living in poverty and/or unstable homes. My school is located in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. The neighborhood is considered a low income neighborhood and is sometimes known for being quite violent.

My Project

These vital resources will certainly be put to good use! My students will benefit from a new writing center being readily available to them. They will have everything they need to become wonderful writers, all in one place - "WRITE" at their fingertips! For some of my students with disabilities, written work is sometimes a bit challenging for them. These particular students will have the opportunity to express themselves by utilizing the crayons and construction paper. The "Find Evidence Clips" will help my students understand more of what they are reading. They will be able to use the clips to mark important characters, problems/solutions in the story and vocabulary that they may want to explore at a later time. "Build A Paragraph" Flip Book will help my students organize their writing pieces. Special Needs students need a lot of assistance when completing a writing task. This book will give them a step by step example of what is needed in order to be successful at the task.

These donations will make our classroom a more desirable learning environment.

These donations will change my students' lives and let them know that they are valued and cared for. Even something as simple as an electric pencil sharpener saves time and energy which ensures students are using their valuable time and energy towards academics. Having organization tools such as learning center pocket chart and writing center will allow them to focus on positive and productive activities.
