Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a third-grade ENL classroom. Working at a public school in New York City, I'm blessed to experience diversity daily. My students come from an array of different backgrounds from all around the world and have so many different needs including English language learners and students from low-income backgrounds. Students arrive to school each day determined to persevere through the rigorous curriculum, encouraging each other along the way, and becoming closer to a family each day! My school is a Title I school, comprised of about 550 children.

The English/Spanish picture dictionaries will help me provide differentiated support for my entering-level English language learners.

The folders will give my students the tools they need to get organized and keep their learning materials neat and tidy. The communication folders will help students travel to and from school with important notices and homework papers. The pencil cases and zipper pouches will be used to create math baggies where students can keep important charts and tools to reference during instructional time. The lanyards and tape will help me create passes and tools for my students. The stickers will be used as positive reinforcement, rewarding students for meeting goals across content areas.
