My Project
Videos are a great way for my students to learn about topics in history and I love to use them. Unfortunately, at this time, I have four pairs of headphones in the classroom and desperately need more. The classroom set of headphones will allow my students opportunities to focus if they prefer to listen to music while working, complete video analysis on their time, and learn about historical events from a resource other than myself. They get tired of my voice.
Much of the other supplies requested are for project ideas and supplies which I have found difficult to procure for students during their project timelines.
The little military men for shoebox projects (trench warfare) are needed because the stores always seem to be sold out. Pipe cleaners will be to build skyscrapers and bridges for the Industrial Revolution activities. History can be boring so I need some help getting them to have fun with it.
The fidget toys will hopefully help my students who have busy hands keep them from drawing on the desks or breaking pencils (accidently). These are student requested items. With myself having ADD, I know this would greatly help my students, as it does me.
Finally, I have found it more and more difficult to take students on field trips. There are so many virtual field trips my students can take. I usually show them on the smartboard, but having students utilize their cellphones with purpose in the classroom with Google VR cardboard headsets, would be an amazing tool for students. They can experience the trenches of WW1 in France, Auschwitz in Poland or just take a tour through the streets of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge.
