My Students

Our two, three and four year old students, some of whom have disabilities, are enthusiastic and ready to learn. They are curious and motivated, participating in a formal school setting for the first time. As their families enter our school, they will benefit from reassuring messages and clear directions about expectations and movement through the building. Our DOE public school in the Bronx is made up of 2 3K classes, 9 PreK classes and 2 smaller classes for young students with disabilities.

Despite the complex challenges they face this year, our young students demonstrate unparalleled determination and excitement about learning.

Many of our students are English Language Learners - with encouragement and support, they will one day be their families' first generation to pursue higher education.

My Project

These materials will allow us to create customized welcome posters, name tags, signs and bulletin boards and that will inform and encourage our families as they come to school for the first time during the COVID pandemic. We will make these items available in several languages in addition to English, including Bangla, French and Arabic.

These materials will allow us to develop signs and bulletin boards that display new regulations in a way that is colorful, inclusive and welcoming.

We know that our families are eager to come to school yet they also have many concerns. We will make it simple and enjoyable for them to see what is expected, where to go, and who can help them.
