My Students

Writing is the quietest time of the day. Once my students think about and discuss what they want to write, everyone settles down to write. They love to write to each other, stories and letters. School is the only place some of my students write during the entire day. Although they may use computers or cell phones, they still love the feel of a pencil and paper. Most of them start with a detailed picture and then their words flow.

My Project

The first day of school everyone had fresh, new supplies. The students were excited about having brand new pencils, crayons and erasers.

Our supply of writing utensils is just about gone!

We need to replenish all of our writing and drawing supplies. Since the holidays have just passed, I know a lot of the parents don't have the money to replenish their supplies.

Before the school year is over, we still have to write a persuasive letter, two narrative pieces and one more informational piece. My students need these supplies to work through the whole writing process before they publish each writing piece. Most of my students draw detailed pictures to help them brainstorm ideas. Once they choose an idea to write about, they draw a detailed picture and write their draft. We do lots of revising and peer editing. When they are satisfied, they draw a detailed picture and rewrite their piece in their best handwriting.

The pouches I requested will help the students stay organized. They don't have desks because our tables are round without storage space. So, they need the bags to help keep their writing supplies all in one place.
