This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students use a huge variety of materials in their projects, and joining together those parts can often pose a challenge. Many times, middle school students think hot glue will solve all problems, but ultimately they find that their results are lacking. Especially when a project involves fabric, students will try anything to avoid learning sewing.

With a classroom sewing machine, our students will stop being afraid of sewing and see the sewing machine as the powerful tool that it is!

It will be the crucial tool to aid this year's service project finally solving our problem of the blinding morning light that shines into our classroom. We will be learning to sew professionally and creating custom blinds to finally solve this long-standing pain in the eye!

Our young engineers are focused on problem solving and growth. This project will help demystify the world of fabric and sewing, opening up a whole world of materials to include in future problem-solving projects!
