My Students

Remember your first day of school? You probably had a desk and a chair (your own personal space). Well, today's elementary students learn while sitting on a spot on the rug or by sharing a table with classmates. We learn as a community. Help us make our classroom community as cozy as possible.

My students are a diverse group of remarkable individuals.

However, they come to school each day to learn in an environment that is not totally fit for learning. Our school is a landmark building in Brooklyn, New York, and our space is very limited. The classrooms are small, and our classroom furniture is inappropriately sized for our room. Despite this, each day my students come to class with a smile on their face. They are eager to learn, and take on the fun, yet challenging material I do my best to provide them with each day. We are in desperate need of a new rug and other materials that will make our classroom an environment conducive for learning. We would greatly appreciate your help.

My Project

We are requesting materials that would truly make our year a comfortable one. We are asking for a new rug- one that will accommodate all of the students. Currently, our rug is old, stained, and does not appropriately seat all of the kids. We are also asking for some materials to help with organization. Since the students do not have desks they need a space for their work to be stored. The 2-Shelf Binder Storage Center with binders would be perfect. We need somewhere to put our writing paper as well. Each day the students create stories that they work really hard on to revise, edit, then publish, so a place for them to retrieve the different paper choices would be invaluable. Lastly, the Classroom Tough Storage Stool is perfect for the everyday conference work that I do with students. The stool provides pockets for me to store books, and materials that I would need to help students. This would maximize the time spent when I meet with students individually or in a small group.

You will be helping to put a smile on the face of a seven year when they see a beautiful, new rug that has a place just for them. You would also be making it possible for growing second graders to move about the room freely because the new storage materials would allow us to donate our big bulky adult sized furniture to a facility that could use and appreciate it.
