Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My role as a public school teacher is to inspire and shape my students into healthy global citizens. A daunting task because I work in a Title I school serving a culturally diverse student community that includes immigrant students from other countries arriving at different times of the school year. Many come from single-parent homes and low socioeconomic backgrounds. However, my students have proven to be very energetic and inquisitive with unique learning needs. This is what makes my first graders so special and awesome to work with!

Planting flowers that are known to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies will surely help in honing their gardening skills to become environmentally responsible global citizens.

We have been diving into our STEM activities with gusto and they yearn to get their hands "dirty" so the perfect way for me to unleash their "inner gardener" is by blending STEM activities and discussing global topics like the importance of Earth Day & mindful ways to reduce, repurpose, recycle, respect, reimagine, or rewild.

Earth Day is not just a one-day celebration, no way! Every day is Earth Day and I need your generous donations and matching funds so I can continue teaching ways to limit our carbon footprint on mother earth. My goal is to help them develop a deeper sense of self and understanding the consumer/producer relationships and the importance of maintaining homeostatic ecosystems.

We would be very grateful for you to join in our goal to help mitigate the global climate impacts for our generation and future generations yet to come. We can all make a HUGE impact if we collectively join together in actionable efforts. We will plant seeds known to attract pollinators in our area and assemble a DIY bird house/feeder that they will take home this summer.
