My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who works with 56 students with varying communication needs. I work in four special education classrooms at two schools with students who have Autism, intellectual, or multiple disabilities.

The majority of my students are non verbal or have very limited communication skills.

They are learning how to communicate more effectively by using pictures and communication boards.

My students are all incredible and work very hard at improving their speech, language, and communication skills!

My Project

The materials that I am requesting will help me create durable communication boards for my students to communicate with at school and at home. By laminating with the thermal laminator and pouches, their communication boards can travel from home to school and back again. My students will be able to learn and use better communication skills at home with their laminated boards.

With your generosity, my students will always have their voice with them wherever they go!

As their picture vocabulary expands and their communication skills increase, some will be using multiple communication boards, which can be held together with the metal display rings. When going to the beach, they will have durable, laminated boards that will withstand water and sand but more importantly, help them communicate “go swim” or “I want beach ball.” These materials will help my students communicate more effectively with their teachers, families, friends, and community.
